Irene Gärtner lives and works in Adliswil (CH). She is married and mother of two grown children. Drawing and painting have been part of her life since childhood. Besides her 4-year training as a decoration designer at the Kunstgewerbeschule Zürich, she attended various courses in drawing and painting. In the Migros Club School she later found a suitable teacher and artist Jurek Zaba, who taught and accompanied her in painting and design for ten years. Regular further training with renowned artists is also part of the program. In her studio in Adliswil she creates medium to large format paintings on canvas. The great pleasure she takes in experimenting with paint, varnish, acid and the most varied materials results in ever more exciting and new textures, which are then further processed with brush, spatula and sponge. This is sometimes a long process until colour, form and composition are right. Irene Gärtner finds her inspiration on her travels and from the perception of visual fragments of nature, experiences and personal reflection. In this way, she wants to take the viewer with her and inspire him or her for an inner journey. Since March 2018 Irene Gärtner has been a member of the board of the Kunstzürichsüd association and the Adliswil cultural association. Here she is responsible for the area of fine arts at Kulturschachtle Adliswil.
